- A muhurtham-anchored invitation. The exact muhurtham time matters more than anything else on the card — guests plan their arrival around it.
Who invites whom
Issued by the parents of the bride and groom, with grandparents and elders named where they are living. Many families list the gotra and the ancestral village or town.
Timing & dates
Six weeks is comfortable. Because the muhurtham is often at an unusual hour — very early morning is common — the invitation should make the timing unmistakable so guests do not arrive after the ceremony has finished.
2026–27 date guidance
Telugu weddings are scheduled by a purohit from the family's panchangam, matching the couple's nakshatras. Muhurthams are avoided during Ashada masam and Shunya masam periods. Confirm the date and time with your family purohit before printing or sending anything — the muhurtham can be revised late.

The engagement, where the families formally fix the match and often announce the muhurtham.

Snathakamస్నాతకం
Performed for the groom before the wedding day, marking the end of his student life.
Kashi Yatraకాశీ యాత్ర
The groom feigns departure for Kashi to pursue an ascetic life; the bride's brother persuades him to marry instead. Performed with humour.
Mangala Snanamమంగళ స్నానం
The auspicious ritual bath taken by bride and groom on the wedding morning.
Jeelakarra Bellamజీలకర్ర బెల్లం
At the muhurtham, the couple place a paste of cumin and jaggery on each other's heads. This is the central moment of a Telugu wedding.
Kanyadaanamకన్యాదానం

- The muhurtham date and exact time — stated prominently, not buried in a schedule
- Gotra and ancestral place, where the family observes this convention
- Names of both sets of parents, and grandparents where living
- Separate timings for Nischitartham, Snathakam and the reception when these are on different days
- Venue with map link, and parking guidance for large kalyana mandapams
- A contact number for the family's point of coordination
